(Poster 62) The Influence of GLP-1 Medication and Stress Urinary Incontinence Procedures

Objectives: GLP-1 medications are commonly used for diabetes and weight loss. However, more data is emerging revealing other important outcomes in those who use these medications. Our goal was to evaluate the impact of GLP-1 medications on stress urinary incontinence procedures in patients with preexisting obesity and urinary incontinence.

Methods: Using Epic Cosmos, a patient set was created of those with obesity and urinary incontinence over a three year period from March 2022- March 2025. Patients were then divided into those who then were treated with a GLP-1 medication versus those who were not. The outcome of undergoing a stress urinary incontinence procedure, defined as sling CPT 57288 or bulking CPT 51715, was then evaluated between groups.

Results: Those who had urinary incontinence and obesity who were subsequently treated with GLP-1 represented 413,204 patients. 6850 of these patients underwent a SUI procedure (1.66%). Those who had urinary incontinence and obesity who did not have treatment with a GLP-1 totaled 1,537,106 patients. Of those, 55,722 patients underwent a stress urinary incontinence procedure (3.63%).

Conclusions: This data suggests an associated decrease in stress urinary incontinence procedures amongst those who have obesity and use of a GLP-1 medication. Further study on these GLP-1 inhibitors is needed to understand the process through which urinary incontinence is impacted.
