OBGYN Resident
Mass General Brigham
Brigham and Women's Hospital/Massachusetts General Hospital
Jaya Prakash, MD, MPH is an OB/GYN resident in the Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Massachusetts General Hospital Integrated Residency Program. She earned her MD from Harvard Medical School and an MPH in Maternal and Child Health from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Dr. Prakash’s research bridges clinical innovation and social justice with a focus on surgical outcomes in urogynecology, trauma-informed care, and the impact of structural determinants—including intimate partner violence and human trafficking—on reproductive health. She has led investigations exploring surgical approaches to hysterectomy, postoperative pain following minimally invasive gynecologic procedures, and the integration of trauma-informed practices into operative care. Her parallel work develops risk prediction tools and clinical best practices to support survivors of exploitation and violence. In addition, Dr. Prakash designs and leads educational initiatives that promote surgical decision-making skills, trauma-informed pedagogy, and community-based service learning. She is deeply committed to advancing health equity in gynecologic surgery through both rigorous scholarship and transformative education.
