Shihyun Kim, MD, is a third-year OB/GYN resident physician at Henry Ford Health in Detroit, Michigan. He earned his M.D. and B.S. in Biology from Howard University through the six-year accelerated B.S./M.D. program. Following medical school, he completed military service in the Republic of Korea Army as a combat medic and military intelligence interpreter. He received multiple letters of commendation, including recognition from the Korean Army Brigadier General and the U.S. Army Battalion Commander.
His research interests focus on addressing social determinants of health that impact equitable and timely care, optimizing management of obstetric anal sphincter injuries (OASIS), and advancing imaging for pelvic floor disorders. He has contributed to multiple manuscripts published in peer-reviewed journals, including the International Urogynecology Journal and Skeletal Radiology.
He aspires to pursue fellowship training in Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery.
