Dr. Cecile Ferrando is a board-certified urogynecologist and Professor of OBGYN & Reproductive Sciences at UC San Diego. She completed her OBGYN residency at the Brigham & Women’s and Massachusetts General Hospital combined program. She then completed a fellowship in Urogynecology & Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery at Cleveland Clinic. She started her career at Cleveland Clinic and Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. There, she was the Program Director for two fellowship programs, Research Director, and Vice Chair of Education. She also founded Cleveland Clinic’s Transgender Surgery & Medicine Program and facilitated the care of over 3,000 transgender and gender diverse patients. In Spring 2024, she pivoted and joined the Division of Urogynecology & Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery at UC San Diego. She is the Clinical Medical Director for their outpatient clinics as well as the Fellowship and Research Director for their Urogynecology Program. Dr. Ferrando is also passionate about clinical outcomes research. She has independent research funding and has published over 100 original papers looking at outcomes related to urogynecology and pelvic reconstructive surgery as well as gender affirmation surgery. She is dedicated to the surgical education of trainees and prides herself in her ability to mentor and coach others.
