Resident Physician
Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania
Ashley U. Amukamara, MD is a third-year Obstetrics & Gynecology resident at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA. She earned her medical degree from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis in 2023. Prior to pursuing a career in medicine, she was a Foundation Fellow at the University of Georgia, and graduated summa cum laude with highest honors and dual degrees in Genetics and Psychology with a concentration in Neuroscience.
Her research portfolio spans a broad range of topics: she has looked at how maternal weight affects recovery from obstetric anal sphincter injuries, explored the surprising history of ancient Egyptian pregnancy tests, and mapped genetic changes that may explain variations in genital development. Her clinical interests include pelvic floor disorders, sexual medicine, and the care of patients with congenital anomalies. She is passionate about using her scientific curiosity to further patient-centered care, with the goal of transforming how complex conditions are understood, treated, and talked about in reproductive and sexual health.
She is excited to be attending AUGS for the first time and looks forward to learning from and collaborating with her future colleagues and mentors in the AUGS community.
